A former resident blacksmith of the Smithy and local character for many years left a fitting epitaph which still hangs in the smithy today, it reads;

 

"I John Watkins have been a Blacksmith since 1950.

We have been Pleasing & Displeasing the public ever since

We have been Cussed & Discussed, Boycotted, Talked About, Lied to!

Hung Up!    Fed Up!    Held Up!  &  Bloody Well Robbed!!!!

The only reason we are staying in Business

Is too See………………. !!

What the Hell is going to Happen

NEXT !!!!!!"
